1923 Jean -Joseph Riverin starts his first company at 21 years old.  His crews will be active in the first Alcoa installations in the Saguenay region; a couple of years later, they will work in the railway  line construction  between the Abitibi  region up to  Saguenay Lac-St-Jean.
1943  He registers his company under the name of  Jean-Joseph Riverin Ltée, specializing in equipment rental.
1944  He starts Pic Construction, specializing in civil engineering work and commercial building.
1950 Jean-Joseph Riverin starts the  ready-mix concrete activity by starting his first plant, Bétonnières  d’Arvida; the second plant , Almamix is opened in 1955.
1953 Inter-Cité construction begins its road building and asphalt paving activities.
1955 The Groupe Riverin starts the operation of its first quarry near Chicoutimi, Quebec. Today, we operate numerous quarries and sand banks across the eastern part of the Province, including Quebec City, the North Shore and the Saguenay region.
1975 Inter-Cité wins its first major paving contract for the James Bay power dams access road.
1978-
1990
Les Bétonnières de la Baie (1978), Bétonnières Lac St-Jean (1980) , and Bétonnières du Golfe ( 1990) are created.  We now have concrete mixing plants in Arvida (Saguenay) , Alma, La Baie, St-Félicien, Sept-Îles, Rimouski, Cacouna and  St-Pascal de Kamouraska.; we also own 2 mobile concrete mixing plants.
1986 Opening of Tuvico, a plant dedicated to precast concrete pipes, manholes and culverts manufacturing.
1988-
1990
Inter-Cité expands toward Quebec City and Sept Iles, with the purchase of assets from Sablière Drapeau, Quebec Labrador Construction, and Napoléon Brochu construction. At this time, Inter-Cité starts working on major civil engineering and road building projects all across Quebec.
1996 Acquisition of Carrieres Québec Inc, which makes the group a major supplier of aggregates in the Quebec City region.
1997 the Groupe Riverin buys another pipe and culverts manufacturer’s assets, Fortier; this takeover now makes Fortier2000-Tuvico one of the largest manufacturer in its field in the Province of Quebec.
2005 Inter-Cité Construction is recognized as the 5th most important contractor in its field in the Province of Quebec.
2006 Inter Cité expands again with the acquisition of Dynamitage Lac- St Jean and starts to be active in drilling and blasting.
2013 Inter Cité acquires Les Finitions de Béton, (LFB), from Saguenay and Montréal, and starts working on concrete structures repairs and concrete floors finishing activities.
2015 Founding of Groupe Riverin Maritime, a company dedicated to sea shipping operations with its first vessel, the Jean Joseph.
2017 Groupe Riverin Maritime buys Atlantique Sous-Marine, a company specializing in barges and small tugs rental and sub-marine work.
